Tim Hutson

Renowned for his exceptional drumming skills, this music instructor and chart-topping recording artist has carved a unique place in the industry. His journey from an aspiring musician to a celebrated performer is a testament to the power of perseverance and mentorship.

With a career spanning decades, Hutson has played alongside some of the most iconic names in music, including John Legend, Regina Belle, The Stylistics, and Billy Paul, among many others. His extensive recording credits, live performances, and signature drumming style have solidified his reputation as a premier musician in the industry.

Tim Hutson is an incredible, world-renowned drummer, but his recording artistry is mind-blowing. He is about to release his second album.  He has released one song from the album so far: "Lessons Learned" (October 6, 2025).

Tim has a great rapport with so many artists. Many of whom are playing on his songs on this new album. Marion Meadows, Kirk Whalum, Dave P Stevens, Carl Cox, Charlie Baldwin, Robert Gee (vocalist), and more. Tim's Band, the Philly Funksion, has band members who rotate depending on the live venue or whether the performance requires 4, 5, or 6 pieces.

When Tim is not playing his own music, he is the drummer for Maysa Leaks and the house band drummer for Gerald Veasley's "Unscripted Jazz Series" at South Jazz Parlor in Philadelphia, PA.

Tim got his start at 14, touring with the Delfonics.  Yes, he was a prodigy.  He believes in paying it forward by giving young people inspiration and opportunity at every turn.  He is an instructor, has participated in many band camps, has taught privately, and continues to help whenever he can to encourage youth to dedicate themselves to music.

He sells out venues in the Philadelphia region. Most of the music Tim creates falls into the Smooth Jazz genre, with some adding a funky vibe and others adding a bit of fusion that melds Classic Jazz with Smooth Jazz, such as his tune "Wednesday CC."

Please be aware that, depending on the song and the instrument, the instrument that is being played on a track from the album is often not the same person who will play that instrument at a live venue.
